South Hymettus, straight above the southern suburbs of Athens. From Argyroupoli the race climbs into pine woods and bare limestone, follows the ancient Sphettian Way to the Stavros col and crosses the Sessi summit by the chapel of Profitis Ilias. Then comes path 10, 400 m straight up in under 2 km to the antennas with the whole basin below, and a rocky descent past the Goat Cave to Karea monastery. The 47K Sfittia first loops over the south end of the mountain to Stroma above Glyfada; the Efklios 5, 10 and 18K run the forest road for everyone else.
