About

What Trail Book is

A guide to trail races in Greece, made by a trail runner: dates, courses and critical points, maps, weather, how to get there, what the trip costs and what is worth seeing around the race. Road races and triathlons are next.

What it is

The calendar shows what is coming and lets you compare races by date, distance and elevation. Each race then has its own page: the course drawn on a map with its profile and critical points (aid stations, cutoffs, summits, technical sections), the typical weather on race day, how to reach the start and where to stay, a rough cost for the trip, a photo gallery, and the places worth a detour while you are in the area.

A race you are interested in can be kept in your own list, with a countdown, without an account. Registration always happens on the organiser’s site: this is the preparation before that, not a replacement for it.

Who makes it

Trail Book is made by one person. I am a trail runner and a software developer, and this is my way of giving something back to the community.

There is no company and no team behind it. Races are added a few at a time, and the site gets a little better as it goes.

Free, always

Everything on the site is free, for everyone, and will stay that way. This is a first version: more features are on the way.

Where the data comes from

Race facts come from organisers' announcements and the files they publish, and are checked against previous editions. Anything shown as estimated is projected from an earlier year, and race data changes late and often: always confirm with the organiser before booking travel or registering.

If you find a mistake, a missing race or an out-of-date detail, a short message is the fastest way to get it fixed.
