A spring weekend in the low, green hills west of Ioannina. From the village of Voutsaras the courses run almost entirely on soft dirt paths and old kalderimia, most of them in shade, down to the valley floor at 140 m and up through the hamlets of Grimbovo, Rizo and Ekklisochori. The 40K on Saturday has one real climb, 390 m to the high point by Rizo; the 22K, 11K and 5K run on Sunday, and the Challenge runs the 40K and the 22K back to back.
