Metsovo in the heart of the Pindus, and the race of Nikos Kalofyris, the Metsovite Olympic skier who cleared these paths himself and has run the weekend since 2013: a Friday vertical up the old Katara road, a Saturday 40K over the Anilio ski centre, Fatzeto and the Karakoli, and a Sunday 21K and 11K, all finishing on the square by the bear. Soft forest ground, hardly any technical trail, permanent marking all the way round and a pasta party to match: the classic first mountain marathon, and one people come back to every year.
