Tzovanios Mountain Race
The Tzovanios takes you to the Lefkada most visitors never see: the cobbled mule paths and threshing floors of Eglouvi, at 730 m. It carries the name of Tzovanis, the village shepherd who, local tradition says, ran in the 1896 Olympic marathon. The 22 km drops to Karya, climbs 580 m to Profitis Ilias and comes back through the village. Then it climbs onto the Elati ridge, at up to 27%, to Katharia Rachi, the 'balcony' above Nydri, Skorpios and Meganisi.
