Spartathlon

The Spartathlon is Greece's legendary ultra. You follow in Pheidippides' footsteps from the Acropolis to Sparta: 246 km in under 36 hours. You run through a day and a night, in the heat of the coast road to Corinth and the cold of Mount Parthenio, which you climb by headlamp. In Sparta, schoolchildren run the last stretch with you to the statue of Leonidas. You finish by touching his feet, and they crown you with olive.

The profile here comes from their own GPX, which measures 244 km, with heights from the EU-DEM terrain model, and adds up to about 3,215 m of climbing. On it the Sangas pass is at 1,060 m; the organisers' 1,200 m is roughly the summit of Mount Parthenio.
