South Olympus Forest Trail

South Olympus Forest Trail is a 54 km loop through the forests of Lower Olympus, starting in the dark at 06:30 from the stone square of Palaios Panteleimonas. It climbs twice to the hidden lake of Kati, tops Metamorfosi at 1,586 m and comes home through Ano Skotina, 2,800 m of climbing almost all under pine, chestnut and beech in their late-October colours. The hardest wall comes after Palaioi Poroi: 300 m in just over a kilometre.
