ROUT is the oldest 100-mile race in Greece: 182 km through the forests of the Rodopi, right on the Bulgarian border, with the Fraktos virgin forest at its heart. You start at midnight on Friday and run through two nights, from the shore of the Platanovrysi reservoir at 230 m to 1,616 m beside the border. There are only six stations, up to 34 km apart. The race ends uphill: the last 19 km climb from 384 m back to 1,324 m at Haidou.
