Stavros refuge, Mt OlympusOpen in Maps Sunday, 5 September 2027

Olympus by the climbers' way. From the Boundolas refuge at Stavros the marathon climbs 1,150 m through the pines to Petrostrouga, traverses to Refuge A and goes straight up another 700 m to the Plateau of the Muses under Stefani, 21 km in. Then it turns for home over Skourta and drops 1,350 m to Koromilia before the forest road back: 42 km and almost 3,000 m of climbing on the first race of its kind in Greece, run by the Thessaloniki mountaineering club since 1986. On Saturday a 15K and a 5K run the woods around Stavros.
