Lycabettus Run
Hill running in the middle of Athens: laps of Lycabettus from Kolonaki. Each 4.5 km trail lap climbs through the pines and up stone steps to the chapel of Agios Georgios at 277 m, with the Acropolis and the Saronic Gulf below, and drops back to the hotel; the 9K does it twice. Road runners lap the ring road instead, and it all happens on a February Sunday morning, ten minutes' walk from the metro.

Terrain & tactics
Two laps of the mostly dirt loop, each climbing through the pines to the summit before dropping back to the hotel. The hotel stands at about 160 m and the chapel at 277 m, so each lap climbs at least 110 m, much of it on stone steps. The organisers publish no climb figures.
