The race that opens the Greek mountain year, in mid-January. From the springs of the Erkyna in Livadeia, at 179 m, the 24K climbs past the castle into the hills of Helicon, gains 1,550 m over its ups and downs, and tops out at 892 m after a 29% wall. Then 800 m of descent back to the springs, where boiled goat waits for everyone and a hand-carved walking stick for every runner.
