Lailias Wolves Races

The points that decide the race: technical sections, stations, climbs, summits and what to watch for generally.

• Ta Vlachakiakm 4First station, four kilometres into a climb that does not stop for another twenty-six. Road shoes rather than trail shoes: this is asphalt from the centre of Serres to the top.
• Barbagiorgoskm 8Checkpoint as well as station; the GEHA camp is on the right a kilometre later.
• Chrysopigikm 12600 m, and the end of the pine; a short downhill follows before the climb resumes.
• Oreinikm 16The Oreini junction at 850 m, halfway up, where you turn left into the last third, inside the forest.
• The Balcony of Lailiaskm 20Station at the viewpoint, two thirds of the way up. Whatever you started in is wrong by now: the finish sits at 1,600 m and in late November it is near freezing.
• The Wolf's Passkm 23Station in the fir and beech of the Lailias forest, with seven kilometres still climbing. The only breaks in the gradient on the whole course are brief dips at km 6, 7.5 and 24.5.
• The Shadow of the Forestkm 26.5Every station is a checkpoint; miss one and the result is void.
