The points that decide the race: technical sections, stations, climbs, summits and what to watch for generally.

The organiser's own course description

• First waterkm 3.8After a first loop through the centre, heading for Ardittou street and the Panathenaic Stadium, a stretch run against the usual traffic flow. Water, toilets and a medical point.
• Water and isotonickm 6.9At the top of the long drag up Vasilissis Sofias to Ampelokipi, the steadiest climb of the first half; a short loop by Mesogeion and Fidippidou follows. Do not chase the pace up there.
• Waterkm 9.2Coming back down Vasilissis Sofias past the Runner statue: the reward for the climb. The 10 km split mat is just ahead.
• Water and gelkm 12.3Out along Patission towards the U-turn at Kefallinias street: a gentle, long rise away from the centre. Take the gel here for the second half.
• Water and isotonickm 14.7Past the turn, running back down towards Omonia and the centre. The runners who won in 2026 said the race got hard after the 14th kilometre.
• Last waterkm 17.5A second pass by the stadium, then up Vasilissis Sofias to Syntagma, Akadimias and Ippokratous. The finish comes down Panepistimiou to the front of Parliament.
