Artemisio Mountain Running
The race that closes the year on Artemis's mountain. From the square of Karya, at 700 m, the 26K makes a long loop out towards Mazi and Tourniki, then climbs two steep kilometres of rock to the summit of Artemisio at 1,771 m. The way down starts with a roped technical stretch along the ridge and ends through firs and plane trees in the square.

Terrain & tactics
A clockwise loop as the organisers describe it: west and south-west out of Karya on a stretch of marked long-distance footpath towards Mazi, then rural road alternating with footpath through the outskirts of Merkouri and along an old road to Tourniki. From there about five easy kilometres north-west across the mountainside before the route turns south-east for the climb. The summit is two kilometres of steep, strenuous climbing on the south face where the path gives way to rocky passages, topping out at 1,771 m. The descent goes down the north side: a secured technical section along the ridge for 1.5 km to a junction, then east through fir forest and the village's plane-tree wood to the square. Technical, exposed at the top, and the organisers ask for mountain-race experience.
