The start line is under Hozoviotissa, the white monastery that hangs off a cliff 300 m above the sea, and its bells ring the runners away. Then 20.5 km of old stone paths along the spine of Amorgos: up the monastery steps to 420 m, across to the stone hamlet of Asfontilitis, down through Potamos to the bay, and over Langada and Tholaria to the finish on the beach at Aegiali. The weekend opens on Friday with the Spike, an unmarked scramble up the islet of Nikouria that every entry includes.

The organisers' March 2026 GPX measures 21.6 km. Their station kilometres (3, 6, 10, 14, 17) come from the older 19 km course; the stations are drawn where the villages are on the 2026 line.
